Lingzhi(Ganoderma capenese(Lloyd)Teng)injection has been widely used in the treatment of a variety of diseases with satisfactory results.On the basis of several screened herb drugs,this paper reports the effect of the medicine on the oxygen transfer function of erythrocytes following the observations of the influence of Lingzhi injection and 3 kinds o fits extracts on the 2,3-diphosphoglyceric acid(2,3-DPG)level in erythrocytes.Experimental results have indicated that Lingzhi can raise the 2,3-DPG level in human erythrocytes(after 2 hours incubation in vitro)significantly(from almost zero to 4.05μm/ml RBC).Comparisons of the 3 kinds of extracts have shown that the stimulating effect ofextract Ⅰ on the formation of 2,3-DPG is stronger than those of extracts Ⅱ and Ⅲ.The latter are about 33% and 28% of the former respectively.As extract Ⅰ is rich in adenine and adenosine,further comparisons of adenosine,adenine,extract Ⅰ and saline were made.It has been found that the increase in the level of erythrocytes (2,3-DPG)by extract Ⅰ and adenosine is 5-7 times as hign as that by adenine and saline.This proves that it is the adenosine in extract Ⅰ that directly affects the formation of 2,3-DPG.In addition,observations were made in vivo on rats fed with Lingzhi.Results have shown that the level of 2,3-DPG in erythrocytes of rats fed with Lingzhi continuously for 7 days is 13% higher than that of the control group. Lignzhi can raise the level of 2,3-DPG ha erythrocytes,promote the release of oxygenated hemoglobin in body tissues,facilitate the supply of oxygen to the tissues,strenthen body resistances and improve the constitution of patients.It is inferred that the improvement in the oxygen transfer function oferythrocytes may be associated with the replenishing effect of Chinese traditional medicine on blood and vital energy.
