本文总结了应用10%鸦胆子油静脉乳剂治疗肺癌脑转移16例临床观察结果,初步看到用药后患者症状改善,颅内压增高症状有不同程度的缓解,瘫痪肢体功能有所恢复,生存期延长。16例中有4例病后生存期分别达到17、18、19、20个月,连续用药一年以上之病例总剂量达740g 未见有毒性,副作用小,少数病例注射部位发生静脉炎及血栓形成。

Sixteen cases of lung cancer with brain metastasis were treated with 10% emulsion of Brucea Javanica Seminal Oil,a new preparation of Chinese herbal medicine,in a period from June 1980 to March 1984.The primary lung cancer was confirmed by x-ray examination including tomography and histologic study.In addition to EEG,each patient was studied with CT head scanner to define the location,number and size of the brain lesion.Eight cases which showed symptoms and signs of lung cancer were treated by surgery and chemotherapy.Brain metastasis occurred after both therapeutic methods,whereas the-other 8 cases showed neurological symptoms prior to the presence of symptoms and signs of lung cancer. All of them were treated with intravenous drip of 10% emulsion of Brucea Javanica Seminal Oil in a dose of 10 to 40 ml per day for 30 days as a course.One to 19 courses of treatment were administered in this group of patients. The total dose varied from 70-740g.No one showed abnormality in renal and liver function,leukopenia or any gastrointestinal upset such as nausea and vomiting.There were some relief of intracranial pressure,increase of appetite and a certain degree of recovery of the function of the paralysed limbs.The average survival was 8.58±6.16 months(range:2.5-20 months).Since the distribution of this new preparation in liver,lung,brain and the tumor was high in concentration,it could rapidly pass through the blood-brain barrier.Thus,it serves as a promising drug to treat lung cancer cases with brain metastasis.In order to improve the therapeutic effect,it should be used in combination with other chemotherapeutic drugs.
