| An experiment was carried out on 22 adult cats.The results were as follows:(1)The cerebral ischemia could be produced by means of ligating some arteries,such as the vertebral a.on both sides,the left-side common carotid a.,the right-side external carotid a.and superior thyrial a.The right-side internal carotid a.was left untouched.These brains were perfused with ink and examined by thick sections at tbe end of the experiment.The areas of cerebral ischemia could be seen at the frontal,temporal,parietal and occipital lobes in the surface or deep layers,usually in the surface layer.So,it was considered that an animal model of cerebral ischemia can be performed by the methodmentioned above.(2)It was observed that the cerebral blood flow(C.B.F)was increased significantly(P<0.001)and the cerebral vascular resistance(C.V.R)was reduced significantly(P<0.01)after the acupuncture"Qu Chi"and"Yanglingquan"points.The cerebral vessels of these animals were ligated for 30minutes.The results have indicated that the increase of C.B.F and the reduction of C.V.R may be one of the mechanisms of acupuncture. |
