The article reports the study of correlation between type A behavior and syndrome differentiation of TCM in 200 cases of coronary heart disease(CHD)and the same number as control. There were 151 cases(75.5%)of type A behavior and 49 cases(24.5%)of non-type A behavior in the group of CHD,while in the control,84 cases(42%)and 116 cases(58%)respectively.The statistical difference of type A behavior between CHD group and the control was of high significance(P<0.001). According to the syndrome differentiation of TCM,type A behavior in the group of CHD was subdivided into three groups:heart Yin deficiency(心阴虚),heart blood deficiency(心血虚)and exuberance of liver Yang(肝阳亢),the total percentage of the three groups was 83.4%.Non-type A behavior in CHD group was subdivided into two groups:heart Qi deficiency(心气虚)and heart Yang deficiency(心阳虚),the total percentage of the two groups was 73.3%. The statistical differences in the syndrome differentiation of TCM between type A and non-type A. behavior were of high significance. The manifestations of pulses and tongues were similar. For this reason, the change of type behavior corresponded approximately to the change in syndrome differentiation of TCM.
