| From Nov.1982 to May 1985,115 cases of bile duct stones of various types were treated by TCM- WM non-operative method together with endoscopic sphincterotomy(EST).Among them,53 were primary common bile duct stones,46 residual or recurrent ones and 16 gallbladder and common duct stones.After EST,the patient was evaluated with four methods of diagnosis of TCM as well as pathological findings of WM.Medicinal herbs were given according to the syndrome differentiation.For patients in the remission period"Dandao Paishi(gallstone expelling)No.1"decoction was used;for those in the acute episode,No.2 decoction.As a result,stones were expelled in 114 cases(99.1%);among them,the bile duct was cleared in 105 cases(91.6%).In the remaining ten patients in which the duct had not been cleared,the papilla opening was found to be patent during surgical operation and no internal drainage is necessary.Four patients(25%) of the 16 with gallbladder stones had their cholecysts cleared out of stones by the non-operative treatment. |
