To make an objective study of syndrome, clinical experimental research on the syndrome of liver stagnation in hypertension has been done according to the liver’s functions of smoothing and regulating vital energy and blood volume under guidance of the TCM’s theory on Zang-Fu(脏腑),channel,vital energy and blood, and Yin-Yang(阴阳). 35 cases of patients with the syndrome of liver stagnation in hypertension were treated by herbs of invigorating liver and regulating vital energy. The total effective rate marked by decrease in blood pressure reached 85.72%,half of the patients’demonstrations were improved, purple brown tongue turned better in 45.71% of the patients, the rate of Zn/Cu decreased, and the content of 5-HT in blood became normal. Through the ultrastructure of blood platelets, their aggregating activity and microcirculation on nail bed,a certain degree of changes have been observed. The herbs of invigorating liver and regulating vital energy could depress the aggregation of the platelets and improve microcirculation. The studies suggest that liver stagnation not only has the demonstrations of the syndrome on vital energy stagnation, but also on blood stasis, and some indexes have shown coorelation to that syndrome, and provided scientific basis for mechanism of blood stasis caused by vital energy stagnation.
